The biblical saying goes, “It is more blessed to give than to receive”. I truly understood what that meant today as I prepared to give out the exam blessing that we have prepared. As mentioned, a great part of it was also to remind others that someone cares amidst this busy period.
The exercise was split into two parts. There were about 200 bags of candy that was given to random people studying in UTown this morning, and 5 customized bags that we were supposed to give to people we have in mind to bless. It was heartening to see the looks of surprise and gratitude even as we were giving out the candies at the study rooms and areas. Some were genuinely puzzled as to why we were doing all this during this time.
For my customized bags, I decided to put in more effort and to place some chocolates and herbal medicine in there since the exams period is also a time when one is most likely to fall sick. When I was giving out the packets, I wasn’t thinking so much. Little did I expect so much response from it. Truly, I have really been blessed just to give out blessings. Here are the responses from the folks I gave my bags to:
It is just a great feeling to know that what I have done made an impact on their lives, even if it was just brightening it up a bit for a day. This is what I want to do for my life – making impact. Glad that my marketing skills helped in the process, and I sincerely hope at least some of the people we have touched today pass the message on the bless others in return to let them know that someone cares.
