The very last time I had a post was about a month ago. How time flies. It has been a whirlwind ride of farewells, travel, followed by the re-acquaintance of university life.
After leaving my internship company, I went on a flash trip to Hong Kong which turned out to be a lot less enjoyable than it should have been if I didn’t try to squeeze it within 3 days. With that said, it was interesting to learn how another country goes about its marketing activities. For example, you would see a lot of the neon signs in Hong Kong that we don’t see in Singapore. Every single street shouts out at you for attention such that you get drained just trying to find out where you want to go. More on Hong Kong if I find the chance.
Of course, the key change I have had is the return to school. My brain is finding it difficult to get out of the regular routine of work and into the chaos of lectures and tutorials and seminars. It’s a strange feeling of having control of your own time, and yet having very little time to do things that you want to. There is an illusion of freedom because I have so much time away from institutionalized classes, but most of that time is spent of projects both academic and otherwise.
I have learnt to treasure my time in school more though. In a sense it is the very last few years of fun that I can allow myself before work starts and I get thrown into a world where money matters and decisions have consequences. Not that they don’t now, but you get what I mean.
The most important thing is that I now truly know what I want and what I am capable of, and I am not afraid of working hard to get to where I want to be. The last year of university is going to be about levelling up and making sure that I get there. We cannot stop change; The only thing we can do is to make sure that it is for the better.
