Have a Pretty Frivolous V Day!

Pretty Frivolous
Happy Valentine’s Day to one and all!

It’s been a hectic few weeks for me. We just managed to push out our cards a few days before Chinese New Year at Pretty Frivolous and we had to take a break because of the holidays. Kicking into high gear tomorrow since it’s the big V Day!  It’s going to be quite exciting to see if more people would buy from our booth at NUS Business School. [Read more…]

A Pretty Frivolous Foray.

Pretty FrivolousA logo design gig turned partnership, Pretty Frivolous is the brain child of a dear friend of mine from University.  She has always had a passion for beautiful stationery and wanted to find a way to make them on her own.

The logo was designed to look like a round stamp, with dotted lines reminiscent of perforated lines.  Pretty Frivolous is about good design at an affordable price and I wanted to give a more refined look to it.  What better way than a classic serif font like Georgia?  It was used as the main typeface because of its elegance and flexibility, and how it feels fun yet pretty serious at the same time.

I was approached to help out with the cards, and our partnership was born.  To be honest, it is very exciting for me to be able to see my work produced and sold.  Although painfully aware of my shortfall of talent, I hope you would like the designs!

Pretty Frivolous Cards

Launching its very first collection in time for Valentine’s Day, Pretty Frivolous brings you quirky cards that for your loved ones.  If you are tired of straight-laced cards, or simply want to see a smile on your partner’s face, go ahead and buy a PF card!

Food For Thought @ Botanic Gardens.

Food For Thought Frontage
Entrance to FFT Botanic Gardens

I have been questioned more than a couple of times recently about the Marketing’s compatibility with morality and ethics.  The most common comment that most have about marketeers is, “I am not comfortable with the idea of creating needs and wants for corporate profit”.  I personally don’t agree with that statement, and here’s a prime example of why.

Food For Thought (FFT) is a local restaurant with the motto, “Good Food For A Good Cause”.  There are currently two outlets, one at 8 Queen Street, and another at the Botanic Gardens at 1 Cluny Road, Basement 1.  I have known about FFT since the days when they still had a restaurant at Middle Road, and I was fortunate enough to visit its latest restaurant at Botanic Gardens last week.  Let’s take a look, shall we? Resolutions.

This is coming in a little late, and it’s been a long time since I last wrote, but I thought it would be an apt start to a new year of blogging.

A lot has been said about setting resolutions.  Most people are think that there is no point in setting resolutions because most of the time, we break them.  Countless articles talk about how setting these resolutions are futile. Well, I think otherwise.  Goals are important.  Goals help you to think about where you want to go and to see your desired end state.  Goals let you know how much you have grown over the year and how much more you need to put in to get to where you want to be.  Without them, you would just be adrift, never amounting to anything, never having any focus. Logo Design: Seeking Eirene

Logo for Seeking Eirene

Seeking Eirene is a blog run by Phil that seeks to help others find peace and inspiration in their busy lives through the sayings of the Christian Orthodox Church.  I was referred to do the logo design by a friend who was building the blog at the time.

The project was interesting to me on both a personal level, and a business level… [Read more…]
